Try doing a search on Craigslist using just the words Race Car and you will end up finding some pretty cool stuff, at least here in SoCal anyway. And when I did that search yesterday, I found this Class 5 legal Baja Bug. If you aren’t familiar with Class 5, it’s basically the unlimited Baja Bug class in SCORE and you’ll find them tearing it up at races like the Baja 500 and Baja 1000. Where as Class 11 is the Bugs that have very strictly limited rules that allow virtually no modifications, Class 5 allows almost anything as long as it still has a VW engine in it and VW style suspension. These are amazingly cool machines with real wheel travel and real power and they look like a complete riot to race. We’d love to own one, but they can be really expensive. Keep in mind, we’ve seen them for sale for over $100k, around $50k, and this one for $16,500. We’re sure there are some things that aren’t quite the top of the line most trick brand new stuff, but we’re pretty sure this one will still haul ass and be a riot to drive.

We’d sure be happy to try it out and see!
