Celebrate Shichi Go San or 753 festival with this craft activity! Shichi-go-san (Japanese for "Seven-Five-Three"), one of the most important holidays for Japanese children, is celebrated on November 15.
People celebrate Shichi-go-san by eating chitose ame. "Chitose" means "1000 years" and signifies good health and longevity. Ame means "candy."
Chitose ame is found in chitose ame bukuro (bag). The bag features classic-style drawings of a crane, turtle, pine tree, bamboo, and plum blooms. All are considered lucky symbols.
