Former Brazilian world cup winner Rivaldo has returned to action with Mogi Mirim at the age of 43.

Rivaldo, who is the Club President of Mogi Mirim believes that he can help kick-start their campaign after retiring from playing with the Brazilian side two years ago.

The 43-year-old came out of retirement last month to help the struggling second division team, who are currently bottom of the table.

The former Barcelona playmaker started his first game against Nautico on Tuesday, but it was only after he was substituted that his team were able to claim their first win of the season.

Despite several attempts at goal, Rivaldo failed to score on his first game back.

Rivaldo was then substituted in the 68th minute with his side trailing 1-0, and two minutes later Mogi Mirim were level.

Serginho grabbed the equaliser and then went on to score the winner two minutes before time, giving Mogi Mirim their first win in 11 outings.

Rivaldo who scored 34 goals in 74 appearances for Brazil believes that he can inspire younger footballers with his experience.

"After one year and three months, I started training back again and went out to play at a match after just 20 days and that inspires any younger player," said Rivaldo.

Despite the win, Mogi Mirim remain bottom of the table, level on six points with Ceara.
