Sergei Frolov

Dr. Frolov has over 20 years of experience as an oceanographer and computer modeler, including designing computer ocean simulation and prediction systems.

Beginning in 2006, Sergei focused on flood risk modeling and is currently responsible for leading a team of scientists focused on flood risk assessment. Dr. Frolov is a principal contributor to many initiatives including the US storm surge and rain-induced flood models. He has over 15 years of experience with building and evaluating flood catastrophe models.

Dr. Frolov began working for RenaissanceRe Risk Sciences predecessor organization as a consultant in 1998 and assumed a permanent research scientist position in 2001. He has initiated and led multiple research and consulting projects for the offshore oil and gas industry.

Dr. Frolov holds a BS in theoretical physics from St. Petersburg State University (Russia). Dr. Frolov was awarded an MS in computer science and earned a PhD in physical oceanography from the University of Rhode Island.
