About The Artwork

Description: The lion is surrounded by a sheltered place, a lake with green trees and grass. A place where a lion will really go to die as described already by Mark Twain. Looking to the scene as a whole feels incredibly dramatic. The Lion Monument is one of Lucerne's main landmarks. Designed by Bertel Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820–21 by Lukas Ahorn. It commemorates the swiss guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution. Can’t be stress enough how impressive is this particular sculpture. The lion transmits real sadness and the place really wants you to cry for the lost ones. This feelings have been accentuated by a good use of light and shadow on the image. Materials and certificates: C-Print on Kodak Professional Endura Premier paper, a medium capable of preserving the colors of the image as vibrant in print as you see on screen for a lifetime. It comes with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. NOTE: Under request and at additional cost, the image can face mounted over acrylic glass.

Born in 1984 and raised in Spain. During 2010 Juan moved to Basel, Switzerland, and he lives there today. His works have been created using scenes captured during his travels. He enjoys photographing a broad array of subject matter. Juan's work reflects his background as an engineer. Using advanced photography techniques, he captures multiple images at different exposures to produce a single image with a wide range of light. Since the human eye is much more sensitive to light than the most sensitive camera sensor, this approach permits the much closer recreation of the original vision of the scene with higher fidelity. Scenes are also interpreted by the author through the use of a variety of digital tools. Juan’s aim is to enhance the natural feeling of visiting and seeing the place. The result is a vibrant, powerful and realistic scene with a deep level of detail. Juan wants his work to create a scene the observer would like to be in, something to enjoy looking at, something that stirs emotions and feelings within each of us and speaks directly to the heart.
