Being dumped by George Clooney hurts – a lot.

Elisabetta Canalis “is very sad” since her world-famous beau ended their relationship, her mother told the Italian edition of Vanity Fair.

Bruna Canalis described her 32-year-old daughter as “very down in the dumps” since the split, which was announced in a joint statement last week.

But Bruna’s husband, Cesare, didn’t seem to be holding any ill will against “nice guy” Clooney, who “certainly would have made a good son-in-law.”

“But it’s my daughter who has to decide,” he added.

A LOOK AT GEORGE CLOONEY THROUGH THE YEARS

Conflicting views on marriage may have played a role in the split, as Clooney, 50, has said repeatedly that he intends to remain a bachelor while Elisabetta recently told Chi magazine she plans to wed “in the future.”

Other sources speculated that Clooney’s massive fame also contributed to the relationship’s demise – a theory echoed by Elisabetta’s father.

“We had a good time, but there was a lot of attention and we are not used to it,” he told the magazine.

Still, while Elisabetta is “very upset,” Cesare insisted the breakup wasn’t “dramatic.”

“Everything passes,” he said, “even this sorrow.”
