Former Manchester City forward, Robinho, faces the commencement of a nine-year prison sentence in Brazil, following his conviction for involvement in a gang-rape case.
The 40-year-old athlete has been relocated to a correctional facility in Tremembé, Brazil, joining a population of convicted murderers and rapists, engaged in menial tasks such as manufacturing toilet cleaner.
Robinho was among a group of six individuals found guilty of sexually assaulting an Albanian woman in a nightclub in 2013.
Despite an international arrest warrant issued by Italy, Robinho managed to evade incarceration for seven years while residing in Sao Paulo. Maintaining his innocence, Robinho's legal team reportedly plans to file an appeal against the verdict.
During his initial period of detention, Robinho is expected to spend a minimum of ten days in solitary confinement within a temporary holding cell.
