Description

The Yashica YC-64 is the only MSX computer ever manufactured by the Japanese company Kyocera for the European market. Its originality is its burgundy color.

It has 64kB RAM, but only one cartridge slot and no expansion bus slot. There is no Capslock led, the case is nearly similar case to the Canon V-20 and Philips cases and the keyboard is mirrored like the Philips VG-8020 keyboard.

Two variations were available, targeting different markets. The difference is the video output options. The one sold in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands has both RF output and composite output, while the one sold in France has only a RGB DIN output.

Specifications

The Yashica YC-64 is a MSX1 without MSX-Engine. The CPU is a Z80A from Zilog or NEC (D780C-1). Only the version for France has a RGB output connector.

The PAL version uses the LVA510 component which is deemed unreliable over time. If you have a video problem, it probably needs to be replaced.
