Bruce Willis' daughter Rumer Willis took to social media to open up about her recent struggles as a new mother after giving birth to her first daughter Louetta this year.

This year the former Hostage actress welcomed her first child into the world with her husband Derek Richard Thomas. The new mum took to social media to share a vulnerable message that many parents could relate to as she opened up about her struggle to care for her sick newborn baby while she was also feeling under the weather herself. In that moment, Rumer realised the weight of motherhood and said she felt it was a test to see what she was truly capable of.

Rumer in an Instagram reel said: "Lou and I as well as her dad actually got really sick recently and we were all hit pretty hard with a flu. And what was incredible was it was the first time I would say as a mother that I truly had that moment of going 'Wow how am I going to take care of myself and take care of her? How am I going to resource myself while giving her everything that she needs?'"

She added that at the time all of her family members were out of town so she wasn't able to call anyone for additional help. During the night Rumer recalled her daughter was spiking a fever but she decided that she didn't want to just "throw medicine" at her baby and wanted the tot to fight through her sickness herself.

Rumer said: "Thankfully it was only one bad evening but I was sitting there and I remember, I think it was maybe midnight, and I'm holding her in the bath and I just remember this moment of just feeling like I'm her whole world. I am her safe place. I am who she's going to call whenever she doesn't feel good - just like I still call my mother. And how do I cultivate the confidence within myself to be able to create that safety for her?"

The 35-year-old actress was met with great support from her followers as she was flooded with kinds words of encouragement in her comment section, with even actress Zendaya liking the honest post. One fan commented: "Yes mama!!! You handled this so well!!! love this post," with another adding: "Rumer, you are a great mom already! You made it through a really tough time taking care of your beautiful daughter while sick yourself." And a third agreeing: "You’re doing amazing mama."
