Elena Gallo is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Privacy & Cyber Practice and Litigation & Trial Department.

Ms. Gallo has a broad practice focusing on complex commercial litigation, contentious data privacy matters, and regulatory investigations.

Prior to qualifying into the Litigation & Trial Department, Ms. Gallo spent two years training in the firm’s London office, gaining experience in the Corporate, Project Finance, and Leveraged Finance Departments.

Ms. Gallo maintains an active pro bono practice and is an active member of the firm’s Women Lawyers Group.

Ms. Gallo's experience includes advising:

 

  • Meta (formerly Facebook) in relation to various regulatory inquiries and associated litigation, including:
    • Advising on regulatory inquiries and associated litigation in relation to data transfers from the European Union following the CJEU’s decision in Schrems II
    • Advising in regard to global litigation and regulatory response in relation to data breach and cybersecurity issues
    • Advising on data protection regulatory inquiries and associated litigation in relation to alleged GDPR infringements
  • A global cryptocurrency coin exchange in relation to different cyber security and data privacy issues and responding to a data breach
  • A global visual communications platform in regard to various claims received in connection with a data breach
  • A global technology company in relation to various privacy questions
  • One of the world’s largest financial exchanges defending a series of breach of warranty claims by the purchaser of a voice broking business
