1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Hand-built Model of the Ferrari 312 F1 by Pierre Laugier, LP Creation

Two 1:43-Scale, Super-detailed, Hand-built Models of the Ferrari 312 F1, 1967

I have now built two different versions of the Ferrari 312 F1 from Model Factory Hiro kits.  The first was Chris Amon’s Ferrari 312 from the 1967 Italian Grand Prix, which was completed in the summer of 2015.  The second version, which was completed in late 2018, is Amon's car from the 1967 British Grand Prix.

For the latest version I used more or less the same techniques that I used back in 2015, that is, the kit has been built “from-the-box”, although I have added a large number of hand-made parts. The techniques I have used include soldering brass tubes to make various parts such as the lower rear suspension arms as well as the 4 lateral suspension arms; the support for the radiator; the supports for the rear shock absorbers; and the supports for the exhausts. I also added individual rivets to the bodywork, and various fuel lines and cables such as the spark plug wires to the engine. Finally, I hand-painted the white-metals parts such as the exhausts, fuel tanks, engine parts etc. using printers ink mixed with artist oil paints to create a “used” effect.

The photos are a mix of both versions.  I have also made a version from 1968.  Please click here to view it.

The version from the British Grand Prix was on display at Retromobile 2019.
