The Metaphysics of The Energizer Bunny

The Metaphysics of The Energizer Bunny

Keep Going. Those were the only two words I heard the first time I asked for inner guidance. I was newly into meditating and this time, finally, my thoughts finally shut off for a few moments. I was sucked into a different world in my head. I had a vision of a white deer in a forest. I told it I was having troubles in my life, emotional troubles that felt like I couldn't get through another day. It was dark all the time. All it said was "Keep going."

I asked it again. "Are you sure you have nothing else to tell me?" It then said, "Well if I told you everything then you wouldn't learn what you're supposed to learn." And who knows if that was me in my head talking or this mythical white deer, but I will say I don't think I had the insight at the time to tell myself this. It also said its name was Mitzi. I googled this and found out it was another name for Mary Magdalene, which I found quite fascinating, but that story is for another time.

Those words have now becoming a guiding light in my life. How does this connect to the Energizer Bunny? Well for starters, it is its motto. But let's get to the super fun and interesting metaphysics behind this, shall we?

The bunny is a symbol of resurrection. Whether you watch Donnie Darko or Alice in Wonderland, the bunny seems to symbolize some knowledge. Or possibly wisdom. The kind that comes from deep down inside a tunnel to a parallel universe or the kind that come when you feel like the world is ending. A bunny brings its wisdom with a sense of heaviness I'd say. Or maybe better said...a neutrality. They say the truth, whether it stings or feels good. And usually in order to change, that truth stings.

I will continue. I have my own views on the metaphysics of the color Pink. If you are familiar with alchemy you will know about the marriage of The Red King and The White Queen. Masculine and Feminine energies in union. Coming together. Heaven meeting Earth. To me, the color pink, is clearly the Red and White mixed together. Therefore I would hypothesize the pink bunny means Union, Achievement, Balance, Harmony and so on. So this pink bunny that brings heavy but helpful messages also bears the promise of harmony, if the advice is followed. This is great news.

Almost done. Now for the drums. A lot of drum gods and goddesses are connected to the underworld like Persephone, for example. Drumming also encourages movement. Vibration. Separation from the old. Union of the new. The bunny drumming could literally be the sound of your inner voice, trying to get through to you. A lot of us don't listen to our inner voice most of the time. We only do when it gets so loud, in the form of sickness, depression, heartache, racing thoughts.... that we can no longer ignore it. The bunny is our inner voice screaming at us through its drums! Because it clearly cannot talk...I believe it is reflecting what we already know.

We usually know what that thing is that we need to do. The thing we have been ignoring. Whether it is going to a doctor, leaving a relationship that is no longer serving us, or finally quitting smoking or calling a long lost parent or sibling...the bunny and its drums are just a symbol of that truth buried in the pits of our own psyche. Our own personal hell. Where we dare not look. The thing is, once you stare you fears in the face, once you listen to them, they go away. They disintegrate. Yes it is hard to face these things, but isn't it harder to live your whole life with a pit in your throat or your stomach that keeps knocking at the door of your head? Listen to me...listen to me...

Last but not least, the keep going. I don't know if the marketing geniuses of The Energizer Bunny realized what they were doing. But this serves as a motivator for anyone who has ever gone through a hard time, a hard year or even a hard life. KEEP GOING. If you just listen to that little drumming bunny when it's quiet, it won't get so loud. Live your truth, no matter how hard that may be, and keep going. And at the end...and there will be a lot of ends, and beginnings...you will find yourself resurrected in some way each time. You will be reborn with new talents, new thoughts that make you feel free. You will believe in yourself. You will level up your friendships and career. You will feel on top of the world. And then, eventually, something else will happen...and you may not feel so great...but you will finally understand it is all happening for you to evolve. And you will once hear again, maybe with a new perspective, that little Energizer Bunny, exclaiming,"Keep going!"

Interesting riffing... My favorite living author is Samuel R Delaney but strictly for his Science Fiction  and Fantasy. In his Towers trilogy he demonstrates how Tarot is legitimate not because of hidden and/or vulgar magic but because it encompasses critical constants for the individual to consider and interpret thus yielding insights because of personal considerations with focus on the randomly arranged cards until what appears random becomes informative through transformation by the human psyche.

I love how you break down all this symbolism. Has always been my favorite battery and bunny. Now I know why. Beautiful messages for us all. Well written Dana. Let’s all #keepgoing!
