Intermediate Over 5 Hours
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
  • 20"x 26" bundle of tissue paper, various colors
  • Chenille stems
  • Scissors
  • Wire
  • Wire cutter
  • Glue gun and glue stick
  • 10" hoop
  • 12" cotton strings, 2
  • Cotton string on top for hanging

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Make four pom pom flowers. Layer about 10-12 sheets of colored tissue paper and with a 1" fold on the short side, continue to accordion fold the rest of the length. Press down the folds. At the center, wrap a chenille stem and twist to close. On each end, cut an arc shape to create the "petals" of the flower. Carefully, pull apart each layer up towards you to create the pom pom flower. Repeat to create three more pom pom flowers for four total.
  2. Attach two pom pom flowers together and twist the chenille stems together.
  3. Repeat for the remaining two pom pom flowers.
  4. Put both pom pom bunches together to create a pom pom flower ball. Twist the chenille stems together to secure.
  5. Insert cotton string through the center and tie at the top for hanging.
  6. Insert two 12" cotton strings and secure at center hanging from the bottom.
  7. Knot each end of the hanging strip onto the hoop a few inches below the pom pom ball. Be sure the hoop is level.
  8. Cut 2" strips of tissue paper and glue all around the hoop.
  9. Repeat and add another layer of strips on top.
  10. Create mini pom flowers: Layer about ten sheets of tissue paper. Cut out a circle with daisy edges. Cut out a 5" wire piece, and near the center of the flower, insert the wire through all the layers to poke another hole. Twist the wire tightly at the base of the flower. Carefully, pull apart each layer up towards you to create the mini pom flower. Cut off any excess wire from the base of the flower. Repeat to create fifteen more mini pom flowers for sixteen total
  11. Glue flowers around the hoop.
