This year the frogs in the garden had a couple of days of intense activity before mating. After the spawn appeared there was around a week when there was little visible activity and this was followed by two days of what can best be described as partying and then they all disappeared. The spawn is now close to hatching - the mini-tadpoles can be seen wriggling vigorously in the eggs - and the adults are still nowhere to be seen. This individual was disturbed under leaf litter at the opposite end of the garden. I presume there are others around as I don't expect them to have scaled the 6-foot stone walls but they seem to be inhiding when I'm in the garden.
