HBO Max is staging a mini-Lost reunion on its forthcoming series Duster.
Josh Holloway has signed on to star in the drama from LaToya Morgan and Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams. He’ll play the lead character, a getaway driver for a crime syndicate in the Southwest of the 1970s.
Duster is one of several projects Abrams, via his Bad Robot company, has in the works at HBO Max following his signing a big overall deal with the streamer’s parent company, WarnerMedia. Abrams and Bad Robot are also developing projects at HBO Max based on DC’s Constantine and Justice League Dark; Overlook, set in the world of The Shining; and original series Subject to Change.
Abrams also created and is writing sci-fi drama Demimonde for the linear HBO network.
Holloway is coming off the third season of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone. His recent TV credits also include USA Network’s Colony and an episode of Amazing Stories on Apple TV+. He’s repped by UTA and Viewpoint.
Warner Bros. TV is producing Duster. Morgan (Into the Badlands, The Walking Dead), who has an overall deal at the studio, and Abrams executive produce with Ben Stephenson of Bad Robot. The latter’s Rachel Rusch Rich is a co-EP.
The Illuminerdi first reported Holloway’s casting.
