Arnaud Montebourg's Alstom-GE deal panned
Issued on: Modified:
Papers lead on the Alstom-General Electric deal. No paper is satisfied. Right-wing Le Figaro attacks Economy Minister Arnaud Montebourg for costing the tax payer two billion euros so the French state can buy a stake in the new rump Alstom. The far-left paper L'Humanité says it is a sell-out, while the left-wing paper Libération has a comment piece saying the government is simply managing industrial decline. Other stories include the Sarkozy campaign-financing scandal Bygmalion and footie fever.
