FC Barcelona Has Double Injury Worry For Paris Saint-Germain, Reports Mundo Deportivo

Following

FC Barcelona has a potential double injury concern with its Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon.

The first training session after the international break brought with it scenes of joy involving Pedri.

Suffering a reoccurrence of his right thigh knock against Athletic Club in Bilbao earlier this month, the 21-year-old was pictured grinning on the turf of the Joan Gamper CT and is working hard to try and at least make the squad for Barca's quarterfinal first leg meeting with PSG on April 10.

It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, however, with Andreas Christensen feeling discomfort in his achilles tendon according to Mundo Deportivo.

This niggle left the Dane out of the rapturous 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano before international football took over the calendar, in what was widely heralded to be the best performance of the season from Xavi Hernandez's men.

In his absence in the Spanish capital, and with Frenkie de Jong out injured too, Ilkay Gundogan had to play the deeper more defensive role of pivot which doesn't bring out the best of his qualities.

And with Christensen a center back playing further up the pitch because of the poor performances of Sergio Busquets replacement Oriol Romeu plus a general shortage of options, the achilles development is a concern for Barca.

With it in mind, Christensen will probably be rested for Las Palmas on Saturday and Gundogan will again provide cover for him.

Thanks to the Copa del Rey final, Las Palmas is Barca's last game until rocking up in Paris meaning Christensen can arrive there 100% fresh if training goes well.

As for Ronald Araujo, he returned from international duty early without playing a single minute for Uruguay.

He hasn't been reported as suffering any injury, but his case is still curious. To not risk any incidents at the Montjuic Stadium against Las Palmas which could effect the Blaugrana in the short term and beyond, he is likely to sit out the La Liga clash like Christensen.

This could see Mika Faye make the matchday squad, even if Araujo does too yet is an unused substitute.
