Arcuate Arteries of Uterus (Left)

Arteriae arcuatae uteri

Origin

The tortuous ascending uterine artery gives off several arcuate branches that run along the anterior and posterior aspects of the uterus.

Course

The arcuate branches divide several times before they reach the midline. Here they form anastomoses between the right and left sides.

Branches

The terminal branches of the arcuate arteries are the helicine arterioles.

Supplied Structures

The arcuate arteries supply all layers of the uterus. The helicine arterioles form a dense network within the myometrium and endometrium.
