If you adore all things vintage, this Los Angeles home is a dream. It was built in 1957, and not much has changed since — except, we assume, for the $2,995,000 price tag.
This three-bedroom, three-bathroom, former party house is on the market for the first time. Apparently, 1401 Sugar Loaf Drive was the-go to hang-out in its day and has seen approximately 250,000 visitors, between all of the parties and events thrown. The same family has owned it since 1960, but it was originally built as a “field and test laboratory house” for House & Patio and Architectural Products magazines.
Upon entering the 3,000-square-foot house, the first thing you'll notice is the flooring: one part statement green carpeting and another part chevron, which continue into the living room that was originally decorated and furnished by Barker Bros when the home was built. Some of the decor remains intact as well, and the bedrooms and bathrooms still boast the original wallpaper.
Floor-to ceiling windows throughout the home not only invite the mountain views in, but offer a good look at the home’s one-acre property.
The pool, designed in the shape of California, can be seen from the wrap-around balcony, wooden deck, or the outdoor kitchen.
While this house might be in need of some modern updates, it’s perfect for a history buff willing to put a little love into it.
