Elisabetta Canalis marries Brian Perri

Elisabetta Canalis has married Brian Perri.

The 36-year-old actress tied the knot with the orthopedic surgeon at the Cathedral of Santa Maria in Alghero, Sardinia.

The couple - who got engaged this summer - said their vows in front of 150 guests in the Italian town.

Elisabetta - who previously dated George Clooney - wore a white lace dress with a four meter long train.

George Clooney is also expected to tie the knot this month with Amal Alamuddin, who he has been engaged to since April.

Before the wedding, Elisabetta told Chi magazine: ''For our wedding I chose a place where no one has ever got married. A historic estate in the Sardinian countryside, a huge vineyard that we are setting up for the occasion.

''There is no hotel or restaurant, we will do everything ourselves. Seventy guests will come from the United States and I want them to be amazed. The function will be in the church, I love the tradition and I'm getting married in a white dress.''

Elisabetta tweeted her thanks to the town where the ceremony was held and the guests that attended.

She wrote: ''Thanks for making this dream possible. Thanks to all the people for the affection you have shown me!''
