The ancient city of Termessos was built on the top of Mount Gulluk in the Dosemealti region of Antalya. The ruins of the ancient city are located in the Gulluk National Park. It is a wonderful sight when nature and history are intertwined into one whole.

The ancient city of Termessos was built by solyms. This is one of the ancient peoples of Anatolia. The buildings were erected at an altitude of 1150 meters above sea level. At the cemetery, the variety and decoration of the tombs amazes with their sophistication.

The ancient city of Termessos attracts attention with its giant columns, sarcophagi and theater. The theater seats 5,000 people. The stage building showcases features from the second century BC. Under the stage of the theater there are 5 rooms where wild animals were kept before being taken out to battle. There are 6 temples of different sizes in the city. One of them belonged to Zeus, the other to Artemis.

Gulluk National Park

Gulluk National Park includes natural values, flora and fauna. This region is covered with red pine trees and rocky areas. The territory of the park contains important historical and natural values.

680 different plants grow on the territory of the park. Including red pine, sandalwood, wild olives, laurel, juniper, oak. Many plant species grow only in Turkey. There are 113 bird species in the park. The national park is like a botanical garden.

Besides vegetation, it is an important wildlife center. The park is inhabited by fallow deer, lynxes, badgers, martens, wild boars, and rabbits. An open zoo with herds of wild goats. The visitor can see deer and wild goats at any time.

Excavations in the ancient city of Termessos

The ancient city of Termessos is one of the most untouched ancient cities in Turkey. Until now, excavations have not been carried out here due to its location on the top of Mount Gulluk. The city is included in the UNESCO list and attracts the attention of lovers of history, nature, photography.

The greatest significance of the city lies in the fact that the city was attacked by Alexander the Great. The ancient city of Termessos was under siege in 333 BC. How to get to the ancient city of Termessos

The ancient city of Termessos is located 37 km from the center of Antalya in the Dösemealti region. It is located on the road to the Korkuteli microdistrict. You cannot get to the city by public transport. To get to the ruins, you need to rent a car. Or hitchhiking, but this option is only suitable in the summer. Because in winter, those wishing to see the ruins are significantly reduced.

The ancient city of Termessos is open all year round. Opening hours vary depending on the season.

From April to September the city is open from 8 am to 7 pm
From October to March, the city is open from 8 am to 5 pm
