NEW DELHI:Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) on Wednesday launched the 2018 edition of its iconic superbike, the Hayabusa (GSX1300R), in India. Available across all Suzuki Big-Bike dealerships in two new colours, red/white and black, with a price tag of Rs 13.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Enjoying a huge fan following among the motorcycle enthusiasts in India, the 2018 Suzuki Hayabusa will also be exhibited at the company's pavilion during the Auto Expo 2018, starting from February 7.
Suzuki is also going to launch new products along with a showcase of some upcoming ones at the motor show in Greater Noida.
Powered by a 1340cc, in-line four-cylinder engine, the superbike offers a power output of 197PS and massive peak torque of 154Nm. It also gets Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) to provide the rider with a freedom to tailor power delivery.

Twin-spar aluminium-alloy frame of the Hayabusa is constructed with castings and extrusions to produce a balance of light weight and strength. The front KYB inverted cartridge forks feature Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating on the 43mm stanchion tubes to reduce friction and the single rear shock absorber also gets adjustability for spring preload, compression and rebound damping. The motorcycle further gets steering damper to quell unwanted vibration and steering forces.

The sporty three-spoke cast-aluminium-alloy wheels come shod with 120/70 front and 190/50 rear radial tyres to keep the traction level right. The stopping power comes from dual 310mm front discs, mated to Brembo monobloc calipers, while the rear gets a single 260mm disc brake. A dual channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is also standard for safe, in-control braking.
The high popularity and demand of the motorcycle in India forced Suzuki to make Hayabusa its first ‘Made-in-India’ big-bike in 2017 which resulted in a noticeable price drop. Now, the bike is imported as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units in the country and costs much lesser than its direct rival, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, priced at Rs 19.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
