Former Man City star Robinho returns to Santos for FOURTH stint at boyhood club on wage of just £200 a month

Former Manchester City winger Robinho has rejoined boyhood club Santos for a FOURTH time and on a tiny monthly salary of just over £200.

The 36-year-old, who moved to City in a shock £32.5million deadline deal in 2008, has returned to the Brazilian side following his release by Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.

He earned a staggering £160,000-a-week during his time in Manchester but is now set to make a measly 1,500 Brazilian reals every month  - the equivalent of just £207.

It is understood Robinho's basic wage will be increased with bonuses if he makes enough first-team appearances - estimated to be around £41,000 after ten games and the same fee again after 15.

Robinho, who joined Santos when he was 18 after being recommended by Brazil icon Pele, said: “This was always my home.

“My aim is to help on and off the pitch and help Santos FC return to the summit they should never have left.

“It’s a marvellous feeling being back at the club where I made my name.

“I grew up here. I always dreamed of being a footballer and Santos FC made this possible.”
