F1 biography

After a stint in karting, Liuzzi moved to single seater races including German Formula Renault and Formula Three. He tested with the Williams F1 team in 2001 but it wasn't until 2005 that he would make his debut. He was linked with several teams, including Ferrari and Sauber but it was Red Bull that gave him a winter test role at the end of 2004.

For the 2005 season, Liuzzi participated in a bizarre seat-share agreement with Christian Klien. He missed the first three races, and then drove in the next four - scoring points on his first appearance at San Marino. He remained as test driver for the rest of the season before switching to the sister team Toro Rosso for 2006.

After two years of disappointing results, Liuzzi moved to Force India and became their reserve driver. He was promoted to race driver at the end of the 2008 season for the final five races of the year, and remained in the seat for 2010. He picked up six points finishes that year, but was left without a drive by the end of the season.

Liuzzi's final stint in F1 was with HRT in 2011, where he raced a full year except for the Indian Grand Prix. Narain Karthikeyan took his seat in that event, and then was signed for the following year as well. Liuzzi remained as test driver for the HRT team but left the sport to concentrate on other racing series instead.

In 2013, he raced in Italy, as well as several rounds of the world endurance championship. He followed that up with a stint in Super GT and Super Formula. Liuzzi participated in the inaugural Formula E series in 2014/15, whilst continuing his stock car and GT endeavours.
