We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Ferguson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success so far is staying true to myself. I don’t conform to what others want. I do what I want, when I want & how I want. I don’t compromise my brand for anything and because of that I continue to grow.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an influencer and DJ. With influencing, you pretty much just jump right in. There is no lesson plan on how to do it. There is no right or wrong either, it’s basically trial and error. What has made me successful so far is that I take helpful resources that I may find and try to apply it to my brand, Oh So Michele. This has helped me to accomplish building my following on Instagram and my blog. I took classes at Keep Spinning DJ Academy to learn the basics of DJ’ing. Learning how to DJ was somewhat easy, but there is still so much to learn. As I start to navigate further into it, i find new things I would like to learn. But so far, I am loving it and have created some dope mixes that people love.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I would definitely like to shout out various spots in Downtown Dallas. Klyde Warren Park is really great. You can hit up some food trucks there! Another great spot is Savor Gastro Pub, that is my favorite spot and they have great food and drinks. The Dallas Museum of Art is another great place to visit. A Mavs game or a Cowboys game, depending on what time of the year it is, is always fun. The Toyota Music Factory in Irving is also a great place to visit. They have some really great restaurants there and live entertainment.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out Kayla McDowell with Dallas Black Bloggers because she created this movement, which I became apart of, that helps African American bloggers connect with other bloggers who look like them. She offers great resources on how to grow and awesome events that support us.
