Gaultheria procumbens Cherries Berries™ is a beautiful glossy broadleaf evergreen ground cover offering four seasons of interest.  Commonly called wintergreen, it starts blooming in mid Spring. Pink/white flowers are followed by super large and flavorful, showy bright red berries that ripen in late Summer and last from Fall through Spring. Berries taste like wintergreen candy. Leaves are aromatic and turn a rich Merlot in the cool of winter. Berries are a winter food source for birds.

These are bearing age plants. Will be shipped with berries in Fall and Winter. Plant is self fertile. Grows about 6-10″ tall, with a spread of 3 feet in diameter when mature. Propagated by tissue culture, to ensure crop uniformity not possible from seed grown plants.

Cherries Berries™ likes filtered shade and moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Cherry Berries grows slowly and forms a low, spreading ground cover. It spreads by rhizomes to form a dense colony. Grows well in regions of mild summer temperatures in USDA zones 3 to 8. Does not like hot dry climates. Cherries Berries™ are pest and disease resistant.

Cherries Berries™  gracefully cascades over hardscapes, makes a great container plant, and a great accent in the garden, in beds and borders. Makes a great Holiday/Christmas decor addition inside your home, which you can plant outside after the Holidays.
