The Torii Gate

The Torii Gate is a traditional Japanese gate usually found at the entrance of a Shinto Shrine. This gate is at the entrance to the Japanese Garden at the Birmingham (AL) Botanical Gardens. Torri Gates come in many styles, each with a unique meaning. This gate seems to be the Daiwa or Inari torii – A myōjin tori.

  1. Thank you for the information on the Torii Gate, I didn’t know about the different styles. Your Torii Gate is a beautiful example and a great photograph – as always from you.

    1. One of the perks of photography is it forces you to learn a little about what your shooting 😊
