Ludacris Has Been Randomly Buying Groceries for Strangers for Years, According to New York Times Investigation

In a heartwarming turn of events, it turns out that Ludacris has been buying groceries for strangers at supermarkets for years, according to a new investigative report from The New York Times’ Jonah Engel Bromwich (a Pitchfork contributor). The rumors began circulating last week, when a woman named Therra Gwyn Jaramillo posted on Facebook about how a man named Chris bought her $375 in groceries at Whole Foods. According to Jaramillo, that “Chris” ended up being Christopher Brian Bridges, aka Ludacris. Her story went viral, so Bromwich and The Times looked into its veracity. What he and The Times uncovered was that Ludacris is a frequent shopper who does buy others’ items on occasion.

One May 2018 tweet reads, “Ludacris just bought my cousins groceries in a Whole Foods in ATL.” Bromwich and The Times uncovered over 100 posts about Ludacris going to grocery stores, including one that dates back to 2010. His manager Chaka Zulu, told The Times, “Funny thing... Luda does these things all the time. But he doesn’t want to do interviews to highlight it. This past February, Drake famously went to Miami to perform a number of good deeds—like buying people food—while shooting his “God’s Plan” music video, which had a budget of nearly $1 million for donation.
