Mentha arvensis var. piperascens

Japanese Mint has a strong menthol flavour, very similar to peppermint and both leaves and flowers are edible; the leaves being used for 'peppermint' tea. A hardy herbaceous perennial to 60cm high, with rounded bright green leaves and whorls of pale lilac flowers in summer. Best in a tub if you are worried about spread, in sun or semi-shade.
