Sambucus nigra ‘Serenade’ Elderberry

New growth is blushed light red with delicious shades of caramel, turning apple green in summer and red again in fall. Fragrant clusters of frothy, flat- topped white flowers in Summer, just in time for a butterfly and bumble party. Full sun- part shade. A colorful hardy alternative to japanese maples. Edible berries and flowers (when cooked) Bushy deciduous shrub 5-6 ft x 5ft Zone 5-9 While this cultivar has been bred to be ornamental, it’s a member of Sambucus nigra with berries high in antioxidants.
