Edward Huber
Edward Huber, 1837-1904, as inventor, an industrialist and a mechanical genius, was Marion, Ohio’s first entrepreneur. As the founder of several manufacturing companies, including The Huber Manufacturing Company, he was known for his inventing and manufacturing of farm machinery – most of all for developing the first workable gasoline tractor. Prior to the development of the gasoline tractor, he was nationally known for his Huber steam engine and for grain separators. His steam engines and thrashing machines are favorites for collectors of early farm machinery.
Edward Huber also found time to be a community leader. His influence on the Marion area was great as his companies provided major employment. His legacy lives on as his business savvy left the companies in good financial health, making it possible for them to remain in business.
