Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia unveiled on Tuesday a new handset, the Nokia 6600i slide, which is said to include enhanced imaging and sharing capabilities. The new mobile phone comes in a sliding form factor and includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper, yet its most impressive feature is that it can prove to be the smallest Nokia slider to include such high-quality camera.

The Nokia 6600i slide does not come only with leveraged imaging capabilities; it also sports an elegant and compact design, which resembles the one seen on the Nokia 6600 slide, and which, the company says, is meant to attract quality-conscious consumers who will also be offered the possibility to bring any story to life with the new handset in their pocket. The mobile phone also comes with brushed steel covers, while sporting a chrome center key that can be seen as a sign of both elegance and visual simplicity.

When it comes to the specification list of the new device, we can count the 2.2-inch display that delivers a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and support for 16 million colors, the 5-megapixel camera that features 8x zoom, double flash, auto focus, and video recording capabilities at 15fps, accelerometer, 20MB free user memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space.

At the same time, the mobile phone also includes WCDMA 850/2100, GSM/EGSM quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 support, UMTS, GPRS and EDGE, GPS capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0, Micro USB, and a BL-4U Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery that can offer up to 4 hours of talk time or up to 14.5 days of standby time. The handset measures 93 mm x 45 mm x 14 mm and weighs 110 g.

According to the data sheet of the handset, it should also come with a stereo music player supporting MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA, FM Radio, support for Nokia Maps and XHTML browser. Moreover, it seems that the Nokia 6600i slide is expected to start shipping in the third quarter of the year in two color schemes, Silver and Black. The estimated retail price of the phone is of EUR 200 excluding taxes and subsidies.
