A driver has crashed their new Ferrari after taking it out on the road for less than two miles.

Pictures shared of the red supercar, which is believed to be a Ferrari 488, show it with a mangled bonnet, scratches along the front end, and broken headlights.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit confirmed that nobody was injured in the crash.

The force tweeted: "Derby. 1st April. Driver bought a Ferrari this morning and crashed it after driving it less than 2 miles. No injuries."

It later confirmed that the tweet was not an April Fool's joke.

According to Parkers Car Price Guide, a used Ferrari 488 can cost more than £175,000.
