A Saginaw County man had to be taken to a local hospital after being bit by what he believes is a brown recluse spider.

Justin Anderson of Bridgeport Township became ill from the pain after being bit, and later had to have part of the sore removed by a doctor.

"It's scary. I worry about my kids getting bit all the time, now. You worry about it before, but with it being in the house, it's really scary," says Bridget Anderson, Justin's wife.

A number of brown recluse spiders were recently identified in Genesee County.

Experts say climate change may be causing the spiders to move up from the Southern United States.

General symptoms of these bites include fever, shivering, nausea, vomiting, itching, restlessness, and shock.

Update: After this story aired, NBC25 received an email from another Mid-Michgian woman, who claimed her son had been bit. You can read that story here.
