Sergey Brin, the Google co-founder, who is on the list of the top 10 richest people in the world, is divorcing his wife of four years, according to a report. The 48-year-old billionaire filed a petition for dissolution of his marriage to Nicole Shanahan this month, citing "irreconcilable differences", according to Insider.
The two, who tied the knot in a low-key wedding ceremony on November 7, 2018, started seeing each other sometime in 2015. Sergey Brin and Nicole Shanahan have a two-year-old daughter together.
According to reports, the two separated in December 2021, as per the court filings submitted in Santa Clara County, California.
Shanahan, who is the founder of Bia-Echo Foundation - a private fund dedicated to environmental and social justice causes, has been pretty public about her struggles to get pregnant. In 2018, the two co-founded a centre at the medical research firm Buck Institute devoted to fertility issues.
The Google co-founder has requested that he and Shanahan have joint custody of their daughter. The billionaire isn't seeking child support from his daughter's mother and has also asked that she is not awarded the same either.
“Because of the high profile nature of their relationship, there is likely to be significant public interest in their dissolution case and any potential child custody issues,” according to the filing in Santa Clara, California, as per reported by The NY Post.
Brin was previously married to 23andMe co-founder Anne Wojcicki. The marriage ended in divorce in 2015. Brin and Wojicicki are co-parent to their two children.
