BrightLogic's HAYABUSA

"The owner, who had been touring with a two-cylinder bike for a while, switched to a four-cylinder and liked it. So, touring is one of the purposes. The other reason is that the current Hayabusa model is heavy, so we aimed to make it 'light and easy to handle.' We thought a lightweight Hayabusa should be good," BrightLogic's Mr. Takenaka explains regarding the custom concept. A four-cylinder second-generation Hayabusa was chosen as the base. "If you remove the various attachments, the bike becomes lighter, so we removed the exteriors except for the tank and cut the air ducts that connected to the front. The exhaust is a dual one with the silencer section reworked. The seat is made only for the rider, and the pillion seat area has a box with a flat top for loading space instead of a seat, which can also hold items inside. We also cut and rebuilt the seat rails as well. Now it probably weighs about 190 kg."

In its stock state, it weighs about 250 kg with all the attachments, indicating a quarter reduction in weight. "The absence of cowls made it slimmer and easier to handle while retaining a good ground contact feel, a key characteristic of the Hayabusa. The most troublesome part was the processing to transform it into a naked bike. The wirings and electrical systems that were under the cowl are now exposed, requiring careful attention." These wires have been rerouted under the tank, and the space between the original cowl and the tank, as well as the side of the tail cowl, has been covered in a natural way. "As expected, with 197 horsepower and 190 kilograms, riding without a windshield in front of your face can be challenging due to wind pressure. To address this, we installed a slightly larger windshield and designed 3D-style brackets to accommodate the naked style." The size of the headlight was carefully considered to balance the appearance with the addition of the rear inner fender. This is how the naked Hayabusa was completed. There is no doubt that the power of the Hayabusa will be fully demonstrated in touring situations.

Handle

The Puig windshield for BMW is mounted with one-off 3D-style brackets to achieve windproofing effects. For the headlight, an LED for CB650 is selected, which is smaller and brighter compared to the typical naked bike's. The left and right master cylinders are replaced with Brembo racing ones, which are essential for Hayabusa customs done by BrightLogic. The air duct penetrating the frame is cut and covered with a net.

The handlebar is the Active Fanatic bar, and the meter employs a small GSX-R1000K1 stock unit. It is also equipped with a USB power port and a RAM mount.

Bodyworks

The fuel tank is a stock 21-liter tank with an additional Clever Wolf tank protector. The gap created between the tank and frame by removing the cowl is covered with a custom-made plastic cover to seal it up the same as stock.

While maintaining a slim design, the tail lamp is selected based on prioritizing visibility with both size and brightness. The rider's seat is manufactured by Marunao, and the gaps on the seat sides are sealed with perforated plates. For the pillion seat area, the seat rails are remade, and a box that can hold small items is installed.

The flat surface of the box serves as a space for attaching bags. According to Mr. Takenaka, when a bag is attached as shown in the photo it is considered the standard specification.

Engine

The 1340cc four-cylinder engine and aluminum twin-spar frame are Hayabusa stock, and processing to hide the wiring and auxiliary equipment exposed by the removal of the cowl has been done.

Chassis

The front forks are stock φ43mm upside-down and the front fenders are Magical Racing Carbon. For the front brakes, the Hayabusa's stock Brembo caliper pads have been replaced with aftermarket Brembo pads, while the discs are stock.

The rear brake is mounted with Brembo P2-RS84 calipers using an Active support and the stock disc. The step is fully arranged and rebuilt by BrightLogic using an ARASHI base.

The swingarm and front and rear wheels (3.50-17/6.00-17 size) are stock, the rear shocks are Showa Racing, and the rear fenders are made by Magical Racing.
