Eurovision is back for another year and fans are eager for the final, which will air on Saturday 14 May.
The glamorous competition is usually hosted in the nation of the previous year’s winner – and in this case Italy will be taking on the task after Italian rockers Måneskin claimed last year’s trophy.
As is fitting for the geographical music contest, famous presenters from the hosting country welcome Europe’s viewers to the show.
This year, singer Mika will be joining fellow hosts Alessandro Cattelan and Laura Pausini on stage.
Who is Mika?
Born Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr in Lebanon in 1983, Mika moved around a lot as a young child.
His family travelled from Beirut to Paris when he was just one, which is where he started to learn the piano. He then moved to London at the age of nine, where he attended the prestigious Westminster School and then the Royal College of Music.
He released his first single “Relax, Take It Easy” in 2006, before shooting to international fame with his smash-hit “Grace Kelly”.
Since 2013, he spends most of his time in Italy, where he has a house and a studio in Tuscany in the province of Florence.

Why is Mika hosting Eurovision?
Being born in Lebanon and brought up in the UK – Mika is not exactly Italian. Nonetheless, the Grace Kelly singer is a big hit with Italians, having appeared on the Italian X factor.
Talking on The One Show, he said: “I have done television in Italy. I learnt to speak Italian just because I got this opportunity to go and do The X Factor in Italy.
“I learnt in a couple of months, luckily my Italian is better now, the ironic thing about this whole thing is that I’m gonna do Eurovision, the biggest TV show Italy has ever had to put on, and the whole thing is in English.”
In a quote for Eurovision itself, Mika added: “I’ve been watching it since I was a kid, the whole family would get together for the Grand Final.
“Once a year, more than 40 countries share the same emotions, regardless of history or the political situation: music unites them. It’s an exciting honour to be one of the masters of ceremony on these fantastic nights.”
How can you watch Eurovision 2022?
The Eurovision 2022 final is being broadcast live on BBC One from 8pm until midnight on Saturday, with Graham Norton on hand to provide his usual acerbic commentary.
You can catch all the action live online through BBC iPlayer, where you will also be able to catch up after the event.
When it comes to the results on the night, the crucial role of the UK’s spokesperson will be fulfilled by TV presenter AJ Odudu.
Both semi-finals are being broadcast live on BBC Three (while you can also catch them on BBC iPlayer), with coverage presented by Rylan and Scott Mills from Turin from 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
