Flying Fries has announced their latest project for MSFS, the Hughes XF-11. Developed by the famous Howard Hughes, this prototype aircraft was built during World War II as a reconnaissance plane, but due to delays was eventually scrapped as the USAAF cancelled its orders. The first prototype of the aircraft crashed, and the second only flew briefly. The program’s controversy led the U.S. Senate to investigate Hughes’ famous H-4 Hercules.

Controversy seems to be somewhat up Flying Fries’ alley after the reception of their previous release, the “Scrapyard Monster“. The XF-11 does seem a little more grounded in realism however. Upon release, the aircraft will feature highly detailed and high resolution textures. The engines, landing gear bays and both cockpit decks are fully modelled and textured, and the flight model itself is a “precise CFD flight model”.

Systems-wise, the aircraft will feature a complex electrical system, complete with functioning circuit breakers. A complex fuel system will also be present, including 7 tanks and 10 pumps. Also included is an era-appropriate auto-pilot, but for those preferring some more modern navigation tools, a GNS 530 can be equipped and the plane will also feature support for the Garmin GTN 750 by PMS50.

Flying Fries’ Hughes XF-11 will release on February 9 and will be available exclusively through flightsim.to.
