Love Is Blind season 6's Jessica says she almost left the pods early

Plus, the first single mother to appear on the show discusses whether her daughter was the real dealbreaker in her relationship with Jimmy.

Warning: This article contains spoilers about the first six episodes of Love Is Blind season 6.

Jessica Vestal didn't find her happily ever after on Love Is Blind season 6, but she did deliver one of the most iconic responses to getting broken up with in the history of Netflix's reality dating experiment.

The first single mother to ever appear on the show approached dating in the pods with an open mind, ready to find her husband and stepfather to her 10-year-old daughter Autumn. And she thought Jimmy Presnell was her man, despite that fact that he was in a love triangle with another woman, Chelsea Blackwell.

Jimmy ultimately said "I love you" to Chelsea, and she came back to the women's living quarters with a huge smile as she told a select few people, including Laura Dadisman, her happy news. Laura immediately left that conversation to approach Jessica to warn her that she should leave the show, heavily implying that Jimmy was going to dump her. While Jessica asked Laura for more details — like why she would tell her that and what evidence she had — all Laura said was she's just trying to protect Jessica and that Jimmy is "not [her] man." Jessica cried and said she needed to leave, but she stayed for one more date with Jimmy where she made him be direct about his feelings and break up with her officially.

"You ruined this opportunity for me," she told him in their last pod date. "I deserved so much more than what you've given me." When he said he didn't have his mind made up until that morning, she confronted him about how he told Chelsea he loved her the day before. She also told him that she'll never be the woman who coddles him, if that's what he's looking for. And then she ended with: "When you see and realize what you missed out on, you are going to choke. You are going to need your EpiPen to open up your airways because you are going to be in disbelief of what you missed out on."

EW asked Jessica about her final words to Jimmy and whether she had written out that goodbye speech before going into the pods that last time. "None of it was planned," she says. "I went in there with just pure instinct and intuition, and I truly did not mean that he was going to choke because of seeing me physically. I meant in every sense of the word, because I know that I have so much to offer someone that he would definitely feel like he was missing out."

And although Jessica stayed for one more date after Laura warned her that she needed to leave the show to protect her own heart, she admits she did consider walking out.

"Initially, when I found out he told Chelsea that he loved her and would likely be proposing to her, I did plan on leaving right then," she says. "And then I went to sleep that night and I woke up the next morning and I was like, 'No, I owe it to myself to have a last word with him and have some closure to it.'"

As the first single parent to go on Love Is Blind, Jessica was nervous about how the men in the pods would react to learning she has a 10-year-old daughter. And when she revealed that fact to Jimmy, it could not have gone worse, and he said he needed time to process everything. But Jessica doesn't believe that her having a daughter was the reason why Jimmy chose Chelsea over her.

"He didn't give me any indication that that was a dealbreaker for him," Jessica says. "His initial response wasn't ideal, but I gave him grace in that situation because I don't feel like there's a right or wrong way for someone to receive information like that. I respected that he might need time and space, and I wanted him to have time and space to decide if that's a dynamic that he wanted to fit into. And if he didn't want to, that was fine also."

So what happened after their breakup in the pods, and did they ever meet in person? Find out when new episodes of Love Is Blind season 6 premiere Wednesdays on Netflix.
