Description

La Fondation Beyeler, a été conçue par l'architecte Renzo Piano, à la demande d'Ernst Beyeler (1921-2010), un des grands galeristes de Bâle, qui a souhaité donner sa très riche collection à une fondation afin de la rendre accessible au public.

Le bâtiment, construit sur un seul niveau, est très bien intégré à son environnement naturel. Il est ouvert du coté sud sur un étang. Sa toiture est constituée par une verrière qui capte et diffuse la lumière dans les salles.

Inaugurée en 1997, la fondation est située dans le canton de Bâle sur le territoire de la commune de Riehen.
