Suzuki has revamped its flagship sport bike, creating what the Japanese manufacturer is calling, “the quickest, most technologically advanced and aerodynamic Hayabusa yet.”

Suzuki says the third-generation 2022 Hayabusa has more than 550 new or redesigned parts. Those changes are reflected in the price of the bike: $18,599, an increase of $3,800.

The Hayabusa—named for the Peregrine Falcon, the world’s fastest bird—debuted in 1999. The 1,299cc four-cylinder engine and swoopy bodywork made the bike a favorite among the go-fast crowd.

A second-generation model was introduced in 2007 with a larger, even more powerful 1,340cc engine.

Suzuki says the latest edition has more torque in the low-end and midrange portions of the powerband to help the bike accelerate quicker than previous iterations.

Developed in conjunction with a six-direction, three-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) manages engine braking, drive modes, power delivery and a two-way quick shifter, as well as anti-lift, cruise, launch, slope and traction controls.

A twin-spar aluminum frame is fitted with an adjustable Kayaba fork and shock. Four-piston Brembo Stylema brakes are fitted at the front of the bike, with a Nissin setup at the rear.

Suzuki says the Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 radial tires—120/70ZR17 front, 190/50ZR17 rear—were developed specifically for this model.

LED lighting includes a projector and multiplane headlight, running lights and a taillight with integrated turn signals. Other specs: a 5.3-gallon gas tank, 58.3-inch wheelbase, 31.5-inch seat height and 582-pound curb weight.

The 2022 Suzuki Hayabusa is available in three colors: Glass Sparkle Black and Candy Burnt Gold, Metallic Matte Sword Silver and Candy Daring Red or Pearl Brilliant White and Metallic Matte Stellar Blue.
