Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) is a genetic disorder present from birth, but it is not always diagnosed at birth. The syndrome causes many physical, cognitive and medical challenges, and occurs in both males and females. It is seen in all races and ethnic backgrounds. CdLS is estimated to occur in 1 in 10,000 live births. People with CdLS resemble one another — thin eyebrows meeting in the middle, long eyelashes, a short upturned nose and thin downturned lips.
